Will Borussia Mönchengladbach lose a role model in Yann Sommer? The goalkeeper could leave the foal eleven after eight years. Gladbach coach Daniel Farke was calm about the rumors. Behind the scenes, the Bundesliga soccer team is reportedly already examining alternatives.
As “Sky” reports, Yann Sommer (contract until 2023) is busy on the transfer market. Especially the OGC Nice around the former Gladbach coach Lucien Favre should keep a close eye on the Swiss. “RTL France” journalist Fabrice Hawkins even reported a few days ago that there was a verbal agreement between the player and the club.
According to “Sky”, Gladbach is meanwhile preparing for a possible departure of summer. Accordingly, Borussia is examining other goalkeeper options. The TV broadcaster does not give specific names.
Head coach Daniel Farke had recently shown himself to be calm. “At that level it’s always the case that the rumor mill is bubbling. I’ve signed and agreed to so many clubs as a coach – and it was never an issue. You don’t have to believe everything,” said Hütter’s successor a few days ago at Sky.
Farke also added: “I’m glad that Yann Sommer will join the training camp next week. I’m looking forward to him because he’s an outstanding goalkeeper, a shining light for Borussia. It’s important that we have him in the group.”
Gladbach probably ready to talk to Sommer
Despite these words, a change is probably not out of the question. Gladbach should be ready to talk if there is a good offer. It remains to be seen whether Nice can ultimately convince the Bundesliga side.
Sommer is held in high regard on the Lower Rhine, as the 33-year-old was able to replace homegrown Marc-André ter Stegen after his arrival in 2014. In the meantime, the Swiss has completed 322 competitive games for Gladbach.
