Gladbach hero speaks of “redemption” after double pack

After his first brace in the Bundesliga, Robin Hack is hoping for further success with Borussia Mönchengladbach.

“It may have taken a little longer for me. I hope today was a bit of a starting signal. That relieves me a bit,” said the 25-year-old after the 3-1 (2-0) win against VfB Stuttgart.

Hack took the lead after 21 seconds and increased it to 2-0 in the 19th minute. He last scored in the Bundesliga on October 1, 2017, when he was wearing the TSG Hoffenheim jersey. “It always worked in the 2nd Bundesliga, I was a bit unlucky in the Bundesliga. That takes a bit of pressure off me now,” said the former Bielefeld player.

Gladbach hero in Jonas Hofmann’s footsteps?

Sports director Roland Virkus compared Hack on Sunday with a prominent ex-Gladbacher: “If you’ve seen Jonas Hofmann – when he came to Borussia Mönchengladbach, he was already a good kicker, but didn’t finish it. I compare them both a bit, “Because Robin is also a very, very good footballer, extremely hard-working, he works a lot, is creative and also dangerous in scoring,” says Virkus: “That’s why it was a good move.”

Hack gratefully accepted the comparison. “Jonas is a great player, also a German player, with game intelligence who can read the game,” he said.

Shortly before the end, Hack almost scored a third goal, but it wasn’t enough for the “Hack trick”. But that didn’t change his conclusion: “It was a great day. I hope there are more goals.”
