President Tommaso Giulini charts Cagliari’s course: confirmation for Fabio Pisacane with a new contract, a project based on youth and sustainability, and the acceleration of the new stadium.

The president of Cagliari, Tommaso Giulini, outlined the guidelines for the future of the club in an interview with “Il Cagliari in diretta” on Radiolina and Videolina. At the center of his speech was the confirmation of Fabio Pisacane as technical guide, the company strategy based on youth and sustainability, and the developments on the new stadium front, without hiding the challenges and ambitions for next season.

Pisacane’s confirmation and the strength of ideas

The trust in Fabio Pisacane is total. The president announced his intention to formalize a two- or three-year agreement, defining the contract as “the least of the problems” in the face of a strong sharing of values and love for the shirt. Giulini praised the coach for his humility and ability to learn. “He is a sponge, he knows how to remain lucid and it is the only thing that I asked him to maintain even in the most complicated moments,” explained the president, underlining how Pisacane has never lost his bearings. The path undertaken was strongly supported by the entire club, which now aims to further implement the staff to support the coach’s work and improve the management of processes and players.

A project based on youth and identity

Cagliari’s future will be based on a core of Italian players and young talents with a sense of belonging. Giulini recalled Giorgio Squinzi’s teaching on the importance of having a hard core that knows the context. This approach has already borne fruit with the inclusion of players such as Cavuoti, Obert and Idrissi in the first team. The president also praised the intuitions of sporting director Guido Angelozzi, citing the operation that brought Marco Palestra to the rossoblù and the sale of Luperto to make room for Juan Rodríguez, a choice repaid by the defender’s goal at San Siro. Mentality is a key factor, as demonstrated by the example of Othniël Raterink, praised for the humility shown in making himself available to the Under 20 team. The new captain, Alessandro Deiola, will embody these values: “The armband on his arm has a huge meaning,” said Giulini.

Sustainability and market strategies

The club has achieved financial stability which allows it to operate on the market with greater freedom. “We have been fortunate and skilled, for a few market sessions, to be able to operate freely having brought the parameters back within the limits imposed by the rules,” said Giulini. This doesn’t mean there won’t be any sales. The president is aware that offers will arrive for many players and the objective will be to retain as many as possible to give continuity to Pisacane’s technical project. The club will have to be able to manage the market, taking into account that some players on loan have salaries outside the parameters of the current salary control policies. As for Leonardo Pavoletti, Giulini has announced a meeting, imagining a future for him as a manager.

Stadium and new members: the future off the pitch

The new stadium project remains an absolute priority, a work “much bigger than me and us”, admitted Giulini. The entry of the new American partners, represented by Maurizio Fiori and Prashant Gupta, was fundamental in supporting this ambition. The president expressed frustration at the delays accumulated over twelve years, comparing the disappointment to that of relegation. The hope is that the city council will approve the project by June, and then proceed with the international public tender in July. “These have been years of great frustration,” he confessed, while maintaining optimism. In the meantime, he confirmed his commitment: “Next season I will still be the president and the one who will have to try to further improve this team to try to do better.”
