Giroud shoots Milan to the top of the table

AC Milan have returned to the top of the table in Italy’s Serie A thanks to Olivier Giroud.

The French soccer world champion scored the decisive goal for the 1-0 (0-0) victory in the top game at SSC Napoli on Sunday evening. Giroud was successful shortly after the break (49th).

Star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic returned to Milan after weeks of knee problems, but the Swede only came on in the 90th minute. After the 28th match day, the Milanese lead with 60 points ahead of local rivals Inter, who beat bottom US Salernitana 5-0 on Friday. The defending champion has played one game less.

Only three points behind Naples (57) are record champions Juventus Turin (54) in fourth place after beating Spezia Calcio 1-0 (1-0). Alvaro Morata shot the old lady to victory on Sunday (21st). Juve manager Massimiliano Allegri said after the game that former Schalke player Weston McKennie’s season is over because of his metatarsal fracture. “He’ll be back next season,” said Allegri.
