The Danish champion, very favorite to win, supports the cause of an association against psychological abuse against children

Jonas Vingegaard and his Visma-Lease a Bike teammates chose to open the Giro d’Italia with a simple but very symbolic gesture: a red nail polish to support Børns Vilkår, a Danish organization committed to fighting physical and psychological violence against minors. The campaign aims to draw attention to the fact that many children grow up in insecure conditions. Vingegaard used the visibility of the Giro to raise awareness on the issue, recalling on social media that “one in six children suffers physical or psychological abuse from their parents” and underlining the need to protect them and guarantee them a peaceful childhood.

the message

The initiative also involved several Danish personalities, who joined by painting a nail red to give strength to the message and draw attention to the problem, with the aim of generating awareness and change.
