Giro d’Italia: Bouwman Wins Giro Stage 7 – Kämna Loses Mountain Jersey – Giro d’Italia – Cycling

The Dutchman Koen Bouwman has won the seventh stage of the 105th Giro d’Italia and at the same time conquered the mountain jersey. The 28-year-old from Team Jumbo-Visma won the final sprint of a breakaway group of four after 196 difficult kilometers with 4500 meters of altitude difference from Diamante to Potenza. Second was Dutchman Bauke Mollema (Trek-Segafredo), two seconds back, with third place going to Davide Formolo of Italy (UAE Team Emirates).

Kämna strong sixth

Lennard Kämna (Wedel/Bora-hansgrohe), previous wearer of the mountain jersey, finished sixth, 2:59 minutes behind the peloton. There were no major changes in the overall standings: the pink jersey is still worn by Juan Pedro Lopez from the Trek-Segafredo team. The Spaniard has a 38-second lead over second-placed Kämna.

The eighth stage on Saturday, starting and finishing in Naples, is 153 km long. Among other things, a 19 km long circuit with a few climbs has to be completed four times. The Giro ends after 3410 km on May 29th in Verona.
