Giro di Lombardia, here is the 2022 route from Bergamo to Como

Saturday 8 October the last monument of the year will be the competitive farewell of the Sicilian and the Spanish: 253 km, San Fermo is done twice

It will be a very special edition of Lombardia, the last monument of the year, the one that will take place on Saturday 8 October starting from Bergamo and arriving in Como after 253 km and the novelty of the double San Fermo. Two great champions, who have made the history of cycling, will end their careers together: Vincenzo Nibali and Alejandro Valverde. If we exclude Flanders and Roubaix, together they have won everything.

PATH – Departure from Bergamo towards Val Seriana for a short flat stretch before tackling a series of climbs in the Pre-Alps around the city. The Forcellino di Bianzano (Valle Rossa), the ascent of Ganda, the Passo della Crocetta in Dossena, the Forcella di Bura and the Colle di Berbenno are linked without breath, which concludes this first series of roughness covering more than 50% of the total altitude difference of the race. A short plain follows that leads to the area of Lake Como which is ascended from Lecco to arrive in Bellagio where the classic climb of Ghisallo begins. Ascent with gradients up to 14% on a wide road with several hairpin bends. The very fast descent takes place over long straights and ends in Maglio. The stretch is all slightly downhill to reach Como where the race will cover a final circuit of 22 km. You pass the town of Como to face San Fermo della Battaglia for the first time (397 m), descend to Como (thus covering the ones that will be the last km on the second passage) and cross the finish line. About a kilometer later you face the hard climb towards Civiglio (614 m) with slopes practically always around 10% to go back down and cross Como again to overcome the climb of San Fermo della Battaglia for the second time.
The last 10 km that begin inside the town of Como, follow wide avenues to the railway underpass where the final climb of San Fermo della Battaglia begins. The slope is around 7% (max 10%) with a narrow carriageway and rough road surface. You pass several hairpin bends until the brow that takes place around 5 km from the arrival. The descent on a wide, well-paved road meets two well-lit tunnels and two large roundabouts, ending at the last kilometer. At 600 m from the finish, the last wide bend to the left.
