In the twilight of his career, spells followed at French side Toulouse (1980-1981) and Club Brugge (1981-1983). Between 1972 and 1977 he collected fifteen caps with the Red Devils, scoring once in a 4-0 win against Iceland.
In the summer of 1983, Van Binst stopped playing football. He was briefly an assistant at Club Brugge and later head coach at Wallonia Namur, White Star Lauwe and SK Oostnieuwkerke. In recent decades he has also regularly been featured as an analyst in the media.
