The mentally handicapped Matthias (29) from Evergem was lured into a trap by his so-called friends at the beginning of April and hospitalized. The perpetrator, a 23-year-old man from Zottegem, was quickly arrested. A second perpetrator, the 57-year-old accomplice who filmed everything, was also arrested. Their detention has now been extended for the second time. “He is gradually getting back to his old self, but we are still afraid of what the future will bring,” says Matthias’ sister.
