Darter Gian van Veen from Andel made a successful debut in the Premier League on Thursday. The world championship finalist won in Newcastle in the first round against Luke Littler, the Englishman who defeated him in the World Cup final in London at the beginning of January.
Van Veen won 6-4 in legsas a round is called. He will play in the semi-finals later in the evening.
The Premier League consists of sixteen evenings, in which eight of the best darts players in the world compete against each other. The eleventh evening is on April 16 in Rotterdam Ahoy. The top four will play the final in London on May 28. The prize pool contains almost 1.5 million euros.
Michael van Gerwen is the record holder with seven titles. The Brabander is also participating in the Premier League again this year.
