The victims of the two have responded indignantly. According to Maxwell’s lawyer David Markus, “nothing was asked” from the government. President Donald Trump said last week that he has the right to grant Maxwell grace, but has no plans for that yet. “We hope he uses that right,” Markus then told The New York Times.

Ghislaine Maxwell was sentenced in 2022 to twenty years in prison for recruiting underage girls for Epstein to exploit it sexually. According to her lawyer, she was treated in a wrong way and the circumstances in her previous prison in Florida were bad.

The victims, including the Virginia Giuffre family, who put an end to her life in April, responded indignantly. “We have taken note of the preferred treatment of Ghislaine Maxwell with dismay and indignation,” they write in a statement. They are surprised that Maxwell has been transferred without notification to the victims and fear “an attempt to cover up the affair.”

Tim Hogan from the Democratic Party was also critical. According to him, the Trump government tries to “mask” the crimes in the Epsteind file by granting favors to Maxwell.
