Carlos Queiroz takes over the Ghana national team a few weeks before the World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada. The 73-year-old has a remarkable CV.
Addo had looked after the Black Stars since March 2024. At the end of March, Ghana lost 1:2 against the DFB team in Stuttgart. They parted ways that same night. Shortly afterwards there were also rumors that Jogi Löw could take over the team. However, the German world champion coach from 2014 denied this himself.
Queiroz has plenty of World Cup experience. In 2010 he led Portugal to the round of 16 in South Africa. He coached Iran at the 2014 and 2018 finals. Most recently he coached Qatar. At club level, he was on the sidelines at Manchester United and Real Madrid, among others.
At the World Cup, which runs from June 11 to July 19, Ghana will face England, Croatia and Panama in the group.
