Germany will play against France in the European Championship quarter-finals on Saturday (9 p.m.) in Basel. National coach Christian Wück has to change his starting eleven – also to stabilize the defensive. The French will demand everything from the DFB women.

As expected, the national coach did not look at the cards at the press conference on Friday. Wück owed an answer to the most important question. How big will the personnel change be? “Tomorrow you will see on the pitch how many changes we will do – or whether we will do some at all,” said the 52 -year -old on Friday and put on a “poker face”.

Once he has to change, this is clear: right -back Carlotta Wamser fails according to her red card. After the bitter defeat against Sweden (1: 4), however, further changes seem sensible.

Official engine Klara Bühl had previously explained: “It would be naive if we didn’t change anything.” Like Bühl, the national coach also emphasized his own strengths and underlined that it would make no sense to “throw everything over the pile now. We are convinced of the way we play.”

Wück still reminded of the defensive triple chain that the team played out in the second half against Sweden. “This is again an option”he said. But a finger? No: “You will see whether it will come again tomorrow at 9 p.m.”

The match plan has long since been – Bühl also wants to think defensively

Wück naturally also relies on the surprise effect. Bühl had at least revealed that the match plan had already been tested on Thursday. “The coach had an idea. And we looked at how we best solve it in training how we feel most comfortable. We also exchanged ourselves within the team.” In the end, everyone went with a very good feeling from the training ground.

You have to see on the pitch that we continue to be in the tournament and don’t want to go home.

National player Klara Bühl

The 24-year-old, who was never-tired on the offensive, but was not yet directly involved in a goal, knows that a lot of work will also come to her: “It is important for me that I will move through my defensive discipline throughout the game. I always have to remember that it is not just going forward, but also backwards.”

Midfield engine Sense is looking forward to the quarter -finals

Defending champion England (1: 2) can sing a song about it. Wales (1: 4) as well. And the Netherlands (2: 5) anyway. The pace of French women is difficult to brake. Bühl demanded that the DFB women should be “Play poisonous without being unfair”. France shouldn’t come “into the flow”, because otherwise it is playful “Throw up” could. “We have to step on their feet. We can annoy them.”

I see the game as a great opportunity to move into the semi -finals.

National player Elisa Sense

When it comes to “annoying opponents”, Elisa Sense is playing a leading role again – possibly this time as the sole six. With Sydney Lohmann, another central midfield player could form a “double night” with Sjoeke Nüsken.

I look forward to the game. I think I can definitely get my qualities on the pitch“, explained the Sense, such as running and duel. “These rough duels come to me quite well.” However, it is important in “Team association” to work together. Or to say it in Bühl’s words: the team must too “Celebrate the duels to emotionally in the game” to be.

Bühl: “Want to win the next three games”

The DFB women tackle the duel with France despite the Swedish setback with a lot of confidence. “I see the game as a great opportunity to move into the semi -finals”emphasized Sense. And Bühl even went one step further: “We want to win the next three games.” Then Germany would be European champions for the first time since 2013.

But first of all, the full concentration applies to the game against France. And that will be difficult enough – in whatever line. We all know an hour before the start of the game. Then the UEFA announces the lists of the two teams.
