“Germany is looking for the superstar”: Katja Krasavice becomes a member of the jury at DSDS

The jury for the 20th (and probably last) season of “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” is complete. As RTL announced, the rapper Katja Krasavice joined the jury. Dieter Bohlen, Pietro Lombardi and the singer Leony are already sitting there. Bohlen had actually announced his departure from the show in 2021, but RTL was able to win him back for the last season.

“DSDS and I – I’m really happy!”, Krasavice said. “To my fellow judges, to the singing, rapping and entertaining talents and to the guaranteed crass time – as far as I’m concerned, it can start immediately!”

Krasavice is on the jury among many acquaintances: she worked with Dieter Bohlen and Pietro Lombardi on a German version of the modern-talking song “You’re My Heart, You’re My Soul”. She also released the track Raindrops with Leony.

RTL actually wanted to sign Shirin David. However, she dropped out after RTL did not respond to her request that the jury be more diverse. “Four white people at a jury desk do not correspond to my ideas of a new ‘DSDS’,” she wrote in a message to Dieter Bohlen. Bohlen later said in a video message on Instagram that the new jury post was “controversial”.

It is not yet clear when the 20th DSDS season casting should begin. A broadcast is planned for 2023.

Krasavice released her third studio album PUSSY POWER in February 2022. It was at the top of the German album charts for four weeks – making PUSSY POWER the most successful album in Germany in the first quarter of 2022.
