Germany celebrates first victory in Rugby EM

The German national rugby team celebrated their first victory in the fourth game of the European Championship.

In the semifinals of the placement round, the team of national coach Mark Kuhlmann won 23:18 (10:7) against Poland in Gdynia. The “Black Eagles” will play against the Netherlands for fifth place on March 19 in Amsterdam.

Germany had suffered a 15:26 defeat against the Netherlands in the preliminary round, and there were bankruptcies against serial winners Georgia (12:75) and Spain (14:32).

The decision in the fight for staying up in the league will only be made after the second European Championship tournament next year. In the final for this year’s title, Georgia, winners of the past five editions, meet Portugal.
