German ice hockey women start the Olympic tournament

The opening ceremony at the Olympic Games is on Friday evening, with the first competitions starting before then. The same goes for the German ice hockey women.
For the German ice hockey players, the Olympic adventure begins before the big stage. The team enters the competition one day before the official opening of the Winter Games in Milan and Cortina.
On Thursday (12.10 p.m.) the selection of the German Ice Hockey Association will meet Sweden in Milan. To reach the quarterfinals, Germany must finish at least third in the five-team group.
Captain Daria Gleißner is looking forward to the start with confidence. “We have a lot of energy and are really happy when it starts. We are well prepared,” she said. The tournament is of particular importance for the German players. The DEB women are represented at the Olympics for the first time since the Winter Games in Sochi in 2014.
