He had never seen the lighthouse, but Niklas Bohr from Germany without thinking twice got a tattoo of the Paard van Marken. The German has typed ‘lighthouse Netherlands’ on Google and the rest is history. “You have to do something you enjoy.”
It was only two weeks ago that Niklas saw the lighthouse for the first time. It became a slight disappointment: “Then you just see it still under construction. Yes, that’s a shame, haha.” He will therefore return soon, because the lighthouse must be visible again in its full glory by June 2 at the latest.
The Horse of Marken is not the only tattoo with a Dutch touch. “My left arm is Dutch, my right arm where I grew up.” Frau Antje, a windmill and an Amsterdam canal can also be seen on his arm.
The love for the Netherlands started at a young age for Niklas. He spent many summers in Oudesluis, where his parents have a holiday home. Due to his vacation and studies, he speaks a good word of Dutch.

When asked if there are more tattoos from North Holland, Niklas replies that his arm is full. “Maybe on my left leg, but I don’t know yet.”
