The German U17 national team celebrated an important victory over host Albania at the European Championship and prevented an early tournament KO. After the bitter 0: 3 at the start against France, Marc-Patrick Meister’s team won 4-0 on Thursday evening in Elbasan. The French play against Portugal in the evening, against which the DFB juniors will probably have a final for moving into the quarter-finals on Sunday. The three countries each have three points.
Jeremiah Mensah from Bayer Leverkusen took the lead for the German selection in the seventh minute, Eintracht Frankfurt Alexander Staff increased a short time later (20th). In the second round, the strong Joker Wisdom Mike from FC Bayern met 3-0 in the 65th minute, which again put the goal difference from Meister’s team to zero. Staffs Frankfurt teammate Keiiah Oteng-Mensah even promoted this into the positive in the 85th minute by self-made penalty.
“I believe in this team. In the European Championship qualification, we have proven that we can come back after a setback like against Spain or Austria. I know the quality of our players and therefore have no concerns that we will do it together,” said Gladbach’s talent Elias Vali Fard after the France game.
