The German badminton teams finished the World Championships in Bangkok with a sense of achievement after dropping out in the group phase.

The men’s team around doubles and mixed European champion Mark Lamsfuss defeated Canada 3-2 in the last preliminary round match on Wednesday. The women had previously also achieved their first victory with the same result against France.

The teams of the German Badminton Association (DBV) ended their groups of four with one win and two losses each in third place, both had started the World Cup as outsiders. Only the top two teams qualified for the quarterfinals.
