German service sales increase by 0.9 percent in February

FRANKFURT (Dow Jones) — Sales in Germany’s service sector (excluding financial and insurance services) rose by 0.9 percent in February compared to the previous month, adjusted for price, calendar and seasonal effects. According to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), it was 6.5 percent above the level of the same month last year. Without price adjustment, the growth rates were 0.7 and 6.7 percent. Sales were 8.1 percent in real terms and 19.2 percent in nominal terms above the level of February 2020, the month before the outbreak of the corona pandemic in Germany.
