FRANKFURT (Dow Jones)–Production in Germany’s service sector strengthened at the start of the second quarter. According to a statement from the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), production in the “Selected service sectors and hospitality industry” increased by 1.1 percent compared to the previous month, after also increasing by 1.1 percent in March. The production of services was thus 3.1 percent above the level of the first quarter. According to Destatis, the above-mentioned sector generated around a third of Germany’s gross value added in 2021.
