The German Christian Democrats, who form a government together with the SPD, promised voters to conduct a harder migration policy. More than a thousand agents are currently monitoring the German border crossings. Coalition partner SPD finds the stricter border controls and uncoordinated rejections for asylum seekers risky. In terms of migration, Germany can “only be successful with neighboring countries,” says Bundestag member Lars Castellucci to NTV. He fears that neighboring countries will also switch to national asylum measures.
