German Football Hall of Fame: 8 new players including Lahm & Klose

Double year honored

Other prominent former professionals have now officially made it into the German Football Hall of Fame. Philipp Lahm, Jürgen Kohler, Bernd Schuster, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Miroslav Klose personally accepted their award in Dortmund at the German Football Museum on Tuesday. Horst Eckel, Joachim Streich and coaching legend Udo Lattek were posthumously honored for their achievements. The honor will be shown on television on Saturday following the international match between Germany and Turkey.

Lahm, Schuster and Rummenigge were chosen for the 2022 vintage. Kohler, Eckel, Streich, Klose and Lattek had already been elected in the 2021 class. Due to the corona pandemic, a double award took place.

This means that 47 football greats – 27 men and 20 women – belong to the Hall of Fame, which started in 2018 with the founding eleven. The five former footballers Christa Kleinhans, Bärbel Wohlleben, Anne Trabant Haarbach, Ariane Hingst and Nadine Angerer included in the selection.
