May you have won the election as standard bearer. And that applies to both the public voting and the voting of your Olympic team. Congratulations!
Ice hockey star Leon Dreiseitel and ski jumper Katharina Schmid receive the great honor of being flag bearers for Germany. Unlike usual, the two flag bearers will appear separately. Dreiseitel will wave the German flag in the San Siro in Milan and Katharina Schmid will wave at the opening ceremony in Predazzo. The call was an emotional moment for both of them.
Hi, everyone. It’s me, Leon Draisaitl. Here. I don’t really know what to say. First of all, thank you very much to all the sports fans, to all the athletes who voted for me. I am incredibly proud to be able to represent our country as a flag bearer. Yes, I’m really looking forward to Milan. I’m incredibly proud of what I said. And I look forward to seeing you all in Milan eventually. Thanks again. And see you soon.
Hello, Katharina, This is Olaf Tabor from the German Olympic Sports Confederation.
Hello.
I have a special message for you and that’s why she just handed me the phone. You might guess it.
Yes.
The election of the standard bearers only ended in the evening. And you are the one who carries our flag as an athlete.
Thank you. And then I said yes, I’m really, really happy! Thanks alot.
