Daniel Farke endured a difficult period with Leeds United. Now the German coach is apparently facing two finals.

Daniel Farke is coming under increasing pressure as Leeds United head coach and appears to be facing a crucial week. As the Guardian reports, leading club officials expect him to be fired if his team loses the upcoming home games against Chelsea and Liverpool.

After six defeats in the last seven games, Leeds have slipped into the bottom of the table in the English Premier League. The most recent game against Manchester City was also lost 3-2 due to a late goal from Phil Foden in stoppage time. The patience in those around us is obviously becoming less and less.

Farke’s future as head coach now depends largely on the next two games. Leeds hosts Chelsea on Wednesday, followed by the game against Liverpool on Saturday. Winning a point in at least one of these matches is a prerequisite for Farke remaining in office.

The pressure is also growing for structural reasons: As the report goes on to say, the US majority owner should plan personnel reinforcements for the winter transfer period – and want clarity on the coaching position by then.

Despite the tense situation, Farke is not consistently viewed critically. Some voices within the club emphasize that the results so far have been unfortunate and that the performances do not always reflect the results. Nevertheless, skepticism appears to prevail as to whether Farke will be able to keep the team in the league in the long term.

Leeds invested the equivalent of more than 100 million euros in ten new signings, many of whom were not yet convincing. The coach subsequently complained that the offensive had not been sufficiently strengthened – the departure of Patrick Bamford, who was not replaced, is particularly having an impact.
