An Iranian-German man from Hamburg who was known online as “White Tiger” has been prosecuted by the Public Prosecution Service in Hamburg for more than two hundred criminal offences, including murder and attempted murder. The German Public Prosecution Service reported this in a press release on Wednesday. The suspect abused the children between January 2021 and September 2023 via the online platform Discord.

21-year-old Shahriar J. was active for years in the so-called ‘764’ movement, also known as ‘Com’: online chat groups in which vulnerable children are extorted and forced to commit sexual abuse and violence. From previous research by NRC shows that dozens of Dutch children were also found in these groups.

J., who was arrested in mid-June in his parents’ apartment in Hamburg, is suspected of, among other things, the murder of a 13-year-old boy from the United States and five cases of attempted murder, each committed as an accomplice. He is said to have managed several groups in which children aged approximately 11 to 15 were forced to commit self-harm, sexual violence or suicide via the internet. According to the Public Prosecution Service, the victims come from Germany, England, Canada and the United States.

The German newspaper Der Spiegel previously conducted extensive research into J. This revealed that he forced his victims to carve his name into their skin, pour corrosive liquids into the wounds and mutilate their genitals. Everything had to be recorded. One of his victims, a thirteen-year-old boy from Seattle, was manipulated and extorted by J. In January 2022, he took his own life in the parking lot of a supermarket, on the instructions of J., who – together with others – was watching online.
