Gerard Joling sometimes hears people whispering that Hélène Hendriks does not take her work as a talk show host seriously enough. “Yes, that she doesn’t always do her homework well.”

We have to be very careful with the talk show divas in this country, because Gerard Joling does not mince his words. First Eva Jinek was the victim and now Hélène Hendriks is getting a slap on the wrist. In a double interview with the presenter, he points out that there is criticism here and there that she is not preparing properly for De Oranjezondag.

From the teleprompter

Gerard states that evil tongues are questioning her devotion. “I sometimes hear people say that Hélène does not always do her homework well. But if you ask questions from your heart, I think you always do well,” he says in 100% NL Magazine.

He continues: “Unless it concerns serious cases, such as incest or abuse. Then of course you read up on it in advance, that is logical. But during a regular broadcast of Today Inside or De Oranjezomer you go through the news of the day. Then you really don’t need to know everything from A to Z. Otherwise you just read it from the autocue, haha.”

Hélène denies

Hélène herself denies this categorically. “We don’t have that, an autocue. I always prepare like crazy. I think that is very important before you start a show. This way you can never blame yourself for not doing enough.”

Geer thinks that she mainly relies on her sympathetic appearance. “I had already seen Hélène on TV a few times when I first came across her on Today Inside. Or was it De Oranjezomer? Well, it doesn’t matter. She seemed like a spontaneous and fun type, just a bit different from many other presenters.”

Air

It seems that Gerard wants to say that he does not find Hélène as stiff as, for example, Eva Jinek. “How do I explain this? It was as if I could breathe a little. When I turn on the TV, it is often so journalistically responsible. Hélène does not have that. She is nice and normal and says what she thinks.”

Finally, Hélène also has some nice words for Geer. Why is she so crazy about him? “First of all because of Gerard’s humor. He is always very cheerful, pleasantly present and brings life to the brewery. I like that, someone who comes in with positive energy.”
