George Russell honors Michael Schumacher: he changed the color of his helmet

The young British driver wanted to respect the sporting legend in his own way.

Transferred to the Mercedes F1 team this season George Russell has changed the coloring of his helmet for the coming season.

The 24-year-old Briton says he respects the F1 legend with the decision Michael Schumacheria.

The red headgear was Schum’s trademark for most of his handsome F1 career. The German also drove in a red helmet in the Mercedes stable in 2010-2012.

Russell, who made his F1 debut in 2019, has driven his career through a red helmet. The color was also used in the Sakhir GP in 2020 when the British ran a gig race in Mersu Lewis Hamilton in place of.

In the 2022 season, however, the helmet will be black like a riding outfit.

– I feel that the red helmet in Mersu’s car belongs very strongly to Michael Schumacher. I really wanted to respect him and try something new myself, Russell told the F1 media at the press conference.

Russell and Hamilton will officially unveil the Mersu W13 on Friday. The highly talented British replaced him in the stable for five years Valtteri Bottas.
