Geneva Motor Show 2024, time for previews: Renault 5, MG3 and Dacia Spring

Appointment from 27 February to 3 March 2024 for an edition number 91 which puts entertainment at the center but also reserves important market news

Four years later nothing is the same, even less in Geneva. On March 17, 2019, the 89th edition of the event closed its doors Auto Show, with a balance of 75 exhibitors and 143 international debuts, but also a total of 602 thousand visitors. After a long absence, Palexpo returns to host the event, from Tuesday 27 February until March 3, but with an inevitably different formula. For the first time in its history, the Geneva Motor Show will be divided into four thematic areas different, with the Adrenaline Zone dedicated to sports cars, the Design District designed to enhance style, the Mobility Lab which hosts new forms of mobility and the Next World Experience, an arena for gaming and driving simulation. The 2024 event becomes above all an opportunity for some continental debuts of great interestdestined to arrive on the market within the next few months: let’s discover them together.

Renault

The announced protagonist of the show will be the new one Renault 5 E-Tech, making its world debut, which tells the long-awaited electric rebirth of one of the most representative models of the French automotive industry, produced from 1972 to 1984 in over 5 million units. It is characterized by the revisitation of the classic proportions, with the transformation of some of its aesthetic details into style elements, such as the display on the bonnet which replaces the air intakes of the original. It is 392 cm long and will be available first in France and Germany in 2024 at a price starting from around 25 thousand euroswith a range of up to 400 km.

Dacia

Public debut for the renewed Dacia Spring, which will also arrive in Italy from the summer with a 2024 edition with a price yet to be defined and a look inspired by SUV Duster. At 370 cm in length, the 308 liter trunk remains, very large in relation to the car, but the interiors change, with the 7” digital instrumentation already standard in the basic Expression version, while for the higher Extreme trim there is it is also the multimedia system with a 10.2″ display in the center of the dashboard. The range is rational, with the confirmations of the two engines 65 HP and 45 HP of power. They share the declared autonomy of 220 km and the 26.8 kWh capacity battery.

MG

There is great anticipation especially in Italy for the new city car MG3exhibited in Geneva as a world premiere by the British MG Motor, controlled by the Chinese Saic. The car represents an important novelty for the market considering its engine Hybrid Plus, that is, a full hybrid solution intended to be offered at a price that promises to be quite competitive. MG Motor also presents the new IM brand, an acronym that stands for Intelligent Mobility and anticipates a range of high-performance electric models with cutting-edge solutions for driving assistance and control. IM will arrive in Europe in 2025 with the IM L6 sedan, which accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds and offers a range of up to 800 km on a single charge.

Byd

Chinese presence now known in Europe Byd chooses the Geneva Motor Show for a rather important step in its history, namely the entry into its range which has so far only been electric first plug-in hybrid model intended for our market, i.e. the crossover Seal U DM-i. Real debut also for the new generation of the battery-powered SUV Tang with a range of up to 530 km. Weight preview also for the new one luxury brand Yangwang, with which BYD intends to position itself at the top levels of the market. The launch is entrusted to the SUV U8with a total of 1,196 HP of power distributed across a mechanical platform with four independent engines.

Times and Tickets

With the February 26 dedicated to the press and the following day February 27 reserved for meetings of VIP Daythe 2024 Salon will be open to the public from Wednesday 28 February to Sunday 3 March. On weekdays the opening hours are between 10am and 8pm, while on the final weekend it will be from 9am to 7pm. The cost of the ticket is equivalent to 26.5 euros, or 19 euros for under 16s.
