Patients from GP practice De Roos on Irene Vorrinkplein in Zaandam have been in uncertainty since yesterday, after it became known that their practice will definitely close its doors. The 65-year-old Gert Jan Negrijn from Zaandam, one of the 2200 patients, read the message on a local news site. “We as patients have not been informed and I am surprised about that,” he tells NH.

Practice doors permanently closed

The general practitioner announced yesterday via the website that the practice was definitively closed on Tuesday 6 May. In a statement he writes that he cannot resume his duties: “We have not succeeded in attracting replacement staff. We can therefore no longer take care of the office hours.”

According to health insurer Zilveren Kruis, the largest insurer in the Zaandam region who now has to accommodate all patients elsewhere, the doctor had been sick for a long time. Conducting GPs were already active in practice. Due to a shortage of assistants, the doctor has now decided to close the doors of his practice definitively.

50 patients already over to new general practitioner

The decision also came as a surprise for the Zilveren Kruis, says Rompa. “We were informed by the regional organization (GPs care Zaanstreek Waterland, ed.) A week and a half ago.” The insurer did not know that Zaan’s practice had observers in his practice and could not arrange assistants.
