As NBC 4 Los Angeles reported, the accident occurred around 1 a.m. local time on October 7th. The exact cause is still unclear. Gene Simmons told authorities he briefly lost consciousness while behind the wheel.
Caused by change in medications
According to media reports, Simmons’ wife, Shannon Tweed, said her husband’s car rolled across several lanes on the Pacific Coast Highway before colliding with a parked vehicle. She suspects that the incident could have been triggered by a change in the Kiss bassist’s medication.

Gene Simmons was briefly examined in the hospital after the accident and then released home to recover. The bassist now actually seems to be well again: On October 8th, Simmons thanked his fans on A Kiss spokesperson told Billboard that Simmons is “already back at work.”
The 76-year-old is not the only Kiss member who has recently had health problems. Guitarist Ace Frehley canceled his remaining solo dates for 2025 due to ongoing health problems. Nevertheless, Kiss has confirmed a concert without masks in Las Vegas for the end of November 2025. It will be the band’s first appearance since their farewell tour in 2023.
