This morning there was… Slotermeerlaan in Amsterdam Nieuw-West an explosion took place in which a local resident was injured. She was hit by shards of glass and had to be treated in hospital. It was also a hit earlier this month Landsmeer, Badhoevedorp, Laren, Amsterdam South and at a hotel in Amsterdam.
Geldmaat writes in a press release that all explosive raids this week targeted so-called ‘seal bag machines’. These are intended for business customers of banks to deposit money. They also say that some machines had (limited) loot.
Measures apply to the whole of the Netherlands
That is why all business deposit machines where people live above or next to them are now closed. “We regret that, but safety comes before ease of use,” says Joost den Heyer of Geldmaat. Of the 460 deposit machines, 210 will close.
The dumping locations where no one lives next to or above will now close at 2 p.m.
The measures are temporary. It is not known when they will be lifted. Geldmaat is in discussions with the police about long-term safety.
