Caroline Garcia won the tennis tournament in Bad Homburg. The French prevailed in the final against Bianca Andreescu from Canada 6: 7 (5: 7), 6: 4, 6: 4 and thus celebrated a successful dress rehearsal for the Grand Slam tournament in Wimbledon.
For the 28-year-old Garcia it is the eighth tournament victory on the WTA tour. The top German players Angelique Kerber and Sabine Lisicki failed in the quarter-finals.
Andreescu, US Open winner of 2019, reached the final without a fight after Simona Halep from Romania had to cancel due to injury and thus saved a lot of energy. After the Canadian won the first set in the tie-break, she made a few mistakes as the playing time increased. After 2:46 hours, Garcia converted her first match point.
