The Premier League continues this week on Friday.

The top flight was on hiatus when the FA canceled all of its matches last weekend of Queen Elizabeth because of death. The Premier League announced the resumption of games on Monday.

A total of seven matches will be played this coming weekend. Brighton-Crystal Palace and Manchester United-Leeds scheduled for Saturday and Chelsea-Liverpool and Manchester United-Leeds scheduled for Sunday will instead be moved.

The Premier League justifies the postponement of three matches with events related to the Queen’s funeral. The Queen will be buried on Monday 19 September.

– After extensive consultation with clubs, the police, local security advisors and other key authorities, there was no other option but to postpone these three matches, the Premier League announced.

The decision to postpone only three matches has surprised people on social media. The solution was hinted at, among others, by the editor of the Manchester Evening News Samuel Luckhurst.

The new dates of the postponed matches will be announced later. The weekend matches will see tributes to Queen Elizabeth.

Queen Elizabeth died on Thursday at Balmoral Castle. He was 96 years old when he passed away.
