“Game Of Thrones” Night King was a role model for “Stranger Things” villain

Finding an intimidating villain isn’t easy. According to Barrie Gower, who works as a make-up designer for Stranger Things, the mystery series was inspired by the quest from Game Of Thrones. Season 4 villain “Vecna” is said to be based on the Night King.

Brothers Matt and Ross Duffer are behind Stranger Things. They were looking for their own Night King for season four, Gower said. “They were fans of our work on ‘Game Of Thrones’ and the character of the Night King,” he explained in an interview with Digital Spy.

The HBO series “Chernobyl” also impressed the Duffer brothers. For the show, which is about the nuclear disaster in Ukraine, Gower sculpted very special masks. He dealt with burns, chemical burns and skin rashes. “I think you (note the Duffer brothers) wanted a mix of both,” Gower said.

Stranger Things is set to end after Season 5

The first seven episodes of the show’s fourth season were released on Netflix on May 27th. Episodes 8 and 9 will be released on July 1st – feature-length. The Duffer brothers, who serve as showrunners, are said to be coming to an end after season five. “You just have to say – yes, that’s it, that’s true for me, that’s inevitable. That’s the way it has to be,” they explained in an interview with “NME”. Spin-off series are already being considered.
