Galatasaray Nef reached an agreement with American playmaker Isaiah Canaan. Isaiah Canaan, who played for 6 different NBA teams throughout his career and lastly played in Russia’s Unics Kazan team, signed a contract that tied him to our yellow and red colors.


The transfer, which connects Canaan to our club until the end of the 2021-2022 season, was realized with the support of the sponsor, as the budget approval was not obtained in our last ordinary general assembly.


Isaiah Canaan, who was born on May 21, 1991 in Biloxi, Mississippi, USA, spent his university education in Murray State, where he entered in 2009. In the summer of 2013, when he graduated after his college years, he was selected 34th in the 2nd round by the Houston Rockets in the NBA drafts. Isaiah, who signed with the Houston Rockets for the 2013-2014 season, also played in the D-League team’s Rio Grande Valley Vipers for the same season. Returning to Houston Rocket in February, our player averaged 4.6 points in 21 games. He also spent the 2014-2015 season with the Houston Rockets and Rio Grande Valley Vipers. He improved his statistics compared to the previous season in Houston, where he returned in February, and averaged 5.9 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 24 games. Accepting the Philadelphia 76ers’ offer at the end of the same season, our new player scored 12.6 points, 3.1 assists, and 2.5 rebounds in 22 games played here.


The following season, he stayed with the Philadelphia 76ers and had the best year of his career, starting the top 5 in 39 of 77 games, averaging 11 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists.


Our new player, who started the 2016-2017 season with a 2-year contract with the Chicago Bulls, had the chance to play in 41 games. Although he signed with Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets and G-League teams Northern Arizone Suns at the beginning of the 2017-2018 season, he finished the season with 19 matches in Phoenix Suns, where he found himself a place. The next season, he started the 2018-2019 season with Phoenix, and after 19 games, he transferred to the Minnesota Timberwolves in January. Isaiah Canaan, who took part in 13 games, finished the Season with 4 games where he had the chance to play for the Milwaukee Bucks.


Ending his NBA adventure when we came to the 2019-2020 season, Isaiah transferred to Shandong Golden Stars, one of the Chinese League teams. Returning to his country in the second half of the season, he played in 30 games for the G-League team Stockton Kings and caught his form with 21.4 points, 4 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.2 assists averages.


Our player, who turned his route to Europe in the 2020-2021 season, was transferred to Unics Kazan, one of the Russian League teams, where he will play until today. In his first season, he had the chance to play in 24 VTB League, 24 EuroCup matches and played with 14.2 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 48 games in total.
