The new head coach of Galatasaray Men’s Basketball Team has been announced. The Yellow-Reds announced that they have reached an agreement with Zvezdan Mitrovic.

Our club signed an agreement with Zvezdan Mitrovic for the position of Head Coach of Galatasaray Nef, covering the years 2022/23 and 2023/24.
Born on February 19, 1970 in Montenegro, Mitrovic started his career as an assistant coach in his country’s team, Buducnost. He had his first head coaching experience with Ukraine’s Khimki Yuzny team in the 2002/03 season. After a 5-year career in Khimki Yuzny, he coached the teams of Krivbasbasket-Lux Krivyi Rog, Budivelnyk Kviv, Khimik-OPZ Yuzny, Azovmash Mariupol, respectively, in his Ukrainian career, which will last for 12 years in total. He was awarded the coach of the year award in 2009, when he was also the champion of the Ukrainian Super League. He added a Ukrainian cup championship to his Ukrainian career in 2012.
Mitrovic, who took over the French representative Monaco in a lower league in 2014-15, took the team to the top classification by becoming the champion in his first year. Zvezdan Mitrovic, who created a competitive team in Monaco, also started to make a name for himself on the European stage. He won the French ProA League Regular Season title three times, and the French Leaders Cup title three times, in the ProA League in 2016, 2017 and 2018, with AS Monaco, and was named the coach of the year for three consecutive seasons. In 2017, he played in the final four of the Basketball Champions League with his team.
At the beginning of the 2018/19 season, he was transferred to another important team of France, ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket. He got the chance to take part in the EuroLeague stage with the ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket, which he coached for two consecutive seasons. In 2020, he reached the final of the French Leaders Cup and was named coach of the year in France once again in the same season.
After his ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket adventure, the experienced basketball man who signed with AS Monaco again in the 2020/21 season, defeated Unics Kazan in the 2021 EuroCup Final and won the EuroCup Championship, and appeared in the EuroLeague once again in the 2021/22 season with his team.
While continuing his career in France, Zvezdan Mitrovic also managed to compete with his country’s national team Montenegro in the 2019 World Cup between 2017 and 2019.
