Goalkeeper Routinier Fernando Muslera signed a new contract after his farewell to the Turkish record champion Galatasaray. The 39 -year -old Uruguayer born in Buenos Aires will switch to the Estudiantes de la Plata Club until the end of 2026. Muslera is free of charge after 18 years in Europe, 14 of them at the Istanbul lions.
Lazio Rome had signed the 133-fold national player in 2007 for 3 million euros from Montevideo Wanderers youth club after he had lending the Club Nacional. Galatasaray struck 113 games for the Italians and a market value increase to 12 million euros later for 6.75 million euros. There, Muslera reached the highest market value of his career with 18 million euros in summer 2014.
With gala, the goalkeeper won eight championships, five trophies and six times the Turkish Supercup. In 551 games, Muslera kept his box clean 195 times and even scored two goals with a penalty: in his first season at the 4-0 on the last match day at Manisaspor and in his penultimate game for Gala in mid-May, a 3-0 against KaySerispor. In all galatasaray games recorded in the transfer market database, only Bülent Korkmaz with 589 missions exceeds Muslera (to the record players).
