Futsal: FC Marlène and HV Veerhuys make it an entertaining derby

The futsal players of FC Marlène have won the North Holland derby against HV Veerhuys 6-5. Jeroen de Groot’s team led 3-0, but Veerhuys fought back into the game.

Najib Taki’s team came back to 3-3, but still went into the changing rooms 4-3 behind.

A spectacle or a feast of mistakes?

In the second half it remained tense in Heerhugowaard. The home team ran out to 6-4, but HV Veerhuys did not give in. They came back to 6-5, but Marlène took the lead. “The mistakes make it a game. It was also a spectacle because the margin remained so small, so that it remained exciting until the end,” said Marlène trainer Jeroen de Groot afterwards.

“Mistakes are part of this game. Whoever makes the fewest mistakes and punishes them wins the game. I wouldn’t call it a feast of mistakes, but a spectacle,” said Veerhuys coach Najib Taki.

A summary of the match will appear online during the evening.
