The Italian leather goods specialist Furla SpA has found a new boss. On Friday, the company announced that Giorgio Presca had been appointed CEO, effective immediately. Most recently, COO Devis Bassetto managed Furla’s business on an interim basis following the resignation of Mauro Sabatini.

With Presca, the long-established company has hired a manager who has proven itself in the international fashion industry. Most recently, he headed the management of British shoe manufacturer Clarks until spring 2021. Before that, he had been CEO of well-known companies such as Golden Goose, Geox and Citizens of Humanity over the course of his career spanning more than thirty years.

Giovanna Furlanetto, President of the Fondazione Furla, explained the personnel decision: “I am delighted that Giorgio Presca is joining Furla as Chief Executive Officer,” she said in a statement. “He is a highly qualified leader and has the great ability to empower global fashion brands and drive profitable and secure growth.”

At the same time, she emphasized the strategic importance of the appointment after speculation that the founding family Furlanetto could sell their majority stake in the company. Giovanna Furlanetto emphasized that the new CEO shares the values of the traditional company founded in 1927. His appointment underscores “the willingness of my entire family to retain full control of our company and lead it into the future.”
