Anfang, who resigned after there was a fuss about his actions, has been suspended for one year by the German football association DFB. The sentence will take effect retroactively on November 20, but will be converted into a conditional sanction from June 10, the DFB reports.
As a trainer of Werder Bremen, Anfang had committed fraud with a vaccination card. After it became known that a criminal investigation was underway against him and his assistant Florian Junge, he tendered his resignation from the club, which currently plays in the second tier. He long maintained that he was innocent, but later confessed that he had tampered with the vaccination certificate.
