The Füchse Berlin are working intensively to bring what is probably the best backcourt in world handball to the capital with Simon Pytlick, Mathias Gidsel and Dika Mem. But it is still unclear whether the French superstar will actually come to the HBL in the summer. Managing director Bob Hanning has not given up hope of an early Pytlick transfer either.
It has been clear since the beginning of December that Simon Pytlick will move from SG Flensburg-Handewitt to the Füchse in Berlin in the summer of 2027. However, the German handball champion, the Danish world champion and Füchse head coach Nikolaj Krickau would like the transfer to take place after the current season.
The fact that the 25-year-old is moving from the fjord to the capital next summer is not an option for the SG. “This is still not an issue for us, we are planning with Simon until 2027,” a spokeswoman recently told “handball-world”. Pytlick’s contract in Flensburg would actually be dated until 2030. However, Füchse Berlin has an exit clause for 2027, which according to “Bild” is 750,000 euros.
Handball: Foxes “very confident” with Dika Mem
Nevertheless: Bob Hanning continues to hope for a rethink in Schleswig-Holstein. “He has signed a contract with us from 2027, but also has an offer for 2026. We know that he is still under contract with another team,” explained the Füchse managing director in an interview with “rbb”. But there are also other options.
“We are currently in the process of coming up with a plan B. So we could bridge the year with another very good and interesting player who fits well into our system and has expressed his willingness to help out,” Hanning suggests another solution, without naming a specific name.
Regardless of a Pytlick transfer, the possible commitment of Barca superstar Dika Mem is still possible. The Frenchman “also has an offer from us. The contract has basically been negotiated. We have decided that he will now go on vacation and then we will get a decision from him before the European Championships,” the 57-year-old revealed.
However, Hanning is “very confident, but may only announce it when the time has actually come.”
