LONDON (dpa-AFX) – According to a newspaper report, the US pharmaceutical company Merck & Co (Merck) wants to take over the cancer drug specialist Revolution Medicines. The “Financial Times” (“FT”) reported on Thursday evening that the purchase price was between $28 and $32 billion, citing people familiar with the matter. An agreement could still take weeks, it said. Other large pharmaceutical companies also have their eye on revolution. According to the information, Revolution Medicines is researching drugs against pancreatic cancer, one of the deadliest forms of cancer. Revolution shares gained 4.6 percent in regular US trading and rose another 15 percent in after-hours trading. Merck shares rose 2.2 percent at the close of trading in New York./men
