Bundesliga soccer team FSV Mainz 05 faces a difficult draw in the round of 16 of the Conference League.
Coach Urs Fischer’s team, which qualified directly for the round of 16 as seventh in the league table, could face Premier League club Crystal Palace with coach Oliver Glasner in the games on March 12th and 19th. A duel with Sigma Olomouc from the Czech Republic is also possible.
Palace won its playoff second leg against Zrinjski Mostar from Bosnia-Herzegovina 2-0 (1-0) thanks to goals from Maxence Lacroix (36th) and Evann Guessand (90th + 3) and moved into the next round after a 1-1 draw in the first leg. Olomouc won 2-1 (2-1) at FC Lausanne, the first leg also ended 1-1. The draw will take place on Friday (2 p.m.) in Nyon/Switzerland.
