Can pudding connect? The Gen Z claims: Yes!
Eating pudding, but with a fork, sitting in parks or at marketplaces, and talking to strangers – that seems to be a kind of pastime that the gen z is too happy to indicate.

It sounds bizarre, but it works: In some German cities, hundreds of young people meet to eat pudding together. It doesn’t matter which variety, brand or size of the pudding. It is only important that it has to be eaten with a fork. What has started as a meme is now becoming a huge phenomenon across national borders.
Bizarre trend unites Germany’s youth
At the end of August, printed flyers appeared in the city center of Karlsruhe, with which anonymous was invited to a “We-Essen-Pudding-Mit-Aner-Fiebel meeting”. The leaflet discovered an urban-bound meme side and pushed the event on Instagram and Tiktok. Actually just as fun, as the channel operators say. But as is well known, there is also a bit serious in every fun, at least far more people took part in the joint pudding meeting than expected. The event quickly went viral and within a few weeks the leaflet idea grew into a Germany-wide movement among young people.
The age range at the pudding events is no longer enough than 25, and some participants: Inside, a mixture of curiosity and irony go to the meetings. In the meantime, the collective pudding forks have already existed in Hanover, Münster, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Bremen, Berlin, Würzburg and Leipzig. The pudding has also spilled into the neighboring countries: Vienna and Zurich are now also of the game.
Anyone who thinks now has to put more behind it. Nothing more happens in these meetings than eating pudding with a fork with a hundred other people. If you ask the young people on site what the meaning is behind all of this, they often do not know any correct answer. Nobody really knows who launched the phenomenon, but what matters is the effect. Sure, eating pudding with the fork is uncomfortable and a bit senseless, but that’s exactly why it is celebrated by so many.
In principle, the whole hype shows that the absurd is increasingly accepting the absurd in order to be part of a collective situation. Young people in particular long for a greater feeling of cohesion and ascertainment, in times of digital estrangement this is an understandable need. At the pudding event, one can network with each other, make new friendships and feel as part of a limited collective.
Escapism with vanilla taste?
You almost cannot avoid learning from the pudding eaters, almost every sheet currently reports about it. The action is a not uninteresting phenomenon that has become independent. Even the organizers: inside the individual events did not expect the whole dynamics of the whole, as the “NDR” reports.
On social media, the desire for even more of this event increases in other cities. At the same time, it is shaken to shake whether there is nothing more important to report. “How exciting can pudding really be? There is war!”, A user writes about Reddit, for example. Still others criticize the homogeneous demography of the participants and fear that heighted accessibility. However, it is generally agreed that this kind of pastime is nonsense – but at least better than consumption or violence.
