From roti to saoto soup: here you will find a new Surinamese restaurant

Fond of Surinamese cuisine? Then we have good news, because we have a new hotspot in town! Neetin Sadhoeram recently opened the doors of his Surinamese restaurant and lunchroom Suri Lake.

Nickname Sweet Lake City and Surinamese cuisine make the funny combination Suri Lake. You will find this Surinamese eatery in the Woonhart. He has converted the vacant building of the former lunchroom into a restaurant where you can sit at one of the tables, pick up or have your meal delivered to your home.

Cooking with the whole family

Suri Lake is a real family business: Neetin and his wife learn all Surinamese cooking skills from both mothers. “My wife is already a good cook, but we learn the tricks of the trade from our mothers. My mother-in-law had several restaurants in Zeeland. We can use her experience as an entrepreneur for our own business.”

Neetin previously had a take-out and delivery restaurant in Moordrecht. “I wanted to open a Surinamese restaurant, but I couldn’t find a suitable space. This space in the Woonhart became available, giving me the opportunity to make my dream come true. My goal is to attract more people to the Woonhart to come and shop here and enjoy a nice meal in my restaurant.”

From meals to sandwiches

Neetin and his family prepare delicious meals and snacks in the kitchen, such as nasi, roti, saoto soup and bara. During the lunch break you can go there for chicken curry sandwiches, pom, cod, liver and spicy chicken. For lovers of fries with a frikandel or chicken nuggets, Neetin also likes to turn on the deep fryer. Got thirsty while home shopping? For a coffee break with cake you can also join Suri Lake.
