“Eleven elves have been given a different color, the rest have remained white,” says Van Gils. The decision to change the skin colors is not so much the result of complaints, says the spokesperson. “It may have been mentioned once, but we have not had any persistent complaints. It is really a decision of our own.”
“We want it to be a reflection of society and that children can recognize themselves,” continues Van Gils. It is not clear whether there are plans to make other attractions more diverse. “It is that the Droomvlucht is now being renovated and in this case we have decided to give elves several colors: white, black and everything in between.”
