From Lewis Hamilton, an ice-cold wink at Red Bull

Hamilton set up Red Bull’s sudden solution.

Lewis Hamilton would have liked more time for Nyck de Vries. PDO

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton cannot understand why rival team Red Bull gave quick kicks to Nyck de Vries.

The 28-year-old rookie driver only got to drive for Red Bull’s sister team AlphaTaur for ten races before getting the boot.

De Vries didn’t manage to get a single World Championship point for the team, but in Hamilton’s opinion the points column didn’t tell the whole truth. Last season, the Dutchman drove one race at the tail end of the Williams and finished a spectacular ninth.

Now his place was taken by the beloved F1 champion Daniel Ricciardo.

– I wasn’t surprised that Daniel was taken back, but it did surprise what was done to the Nyck guy, Hamilton told the British newspaper The Independent by.

– Nyck is a really talented young man and a nice guy. His future looks bright and he will get new opportunities with Takuu.

When Hamilton was asked if de Vries’ firings were a reminder of how brutally F1 works, the seven-time world champion loaded back a snappy answer.

– I would rather say that this is how Red Bull operates, Hamilton snapped.
