From coffin to BMW: these things were also left in the forest

A huge mountain of clothing was found last weekend in a forest near Strijbeek. At the beginning of a forest path there were dozens of plastic bags full of clothing. Who owns the clothes and who dumped the bags there is still a big mystery. Strange, but not unusual: striking finds are often made in the forest.

The police are still completely in the dark about the found bags of clothes. The police hope to receive tips through a call about the discovery that was made on Monday morning.

Walk turns into horror tour
What started as an unsuspecting walk through the woods of Middelbeers ended up being something out of a horror movie. Marie-José van den Berg walked with her friend and a dog along the forest path where they found a coffin with a fallen gravestone next to it. With the hairs on the back of their necks standing up, they ventured towards the coffin to see if there was anyone in it. They did not find a body, but they did find some men’s clothes.

The reason the box was in the woods was ultimately less exciting. He was part of a ghost tour that a scout group had previously held.

Two dead dogs in the woods
Two females, both wrapped in a towel with even a cuddly toy. For example, two dead dogs were found in the woods near Vinkstraat in Mill. A walker came across the grave and alerted the Brabant Noord-Oost animal ambulance.

What was especially strange about the find is the location of the grave: just a meter away from a walking path and only a foot deep. A spokeswoman for the Animal Ambulance found it strange that two dogs were involved at the same time. “They certainly don’t seem old and have also been cared for and then they would have died at the same time? That is very strange,” she said to Omroep Brabant.

They turned out to be the dogs of Helma (65) from Uden. She buried her two dogs Mika and Bowie in the woods where her husband’s ashes were also scattered. The dogs were old and sick, so Helma had them put to sleep. It was not her intention that the grave shocked many people. “The intention was a loving funeral.”

ATM without money
What you find is yours to keep. At least, that’s what you hope when you find a full ATM in the woods. It happened to forest rangers Geert and Mari. They found an ATM with an estimated 150,000 euros in it on the De Lange Bleek estate in Sterksel. At least, that’s what they heard from a security transport driver.

There was no finder’s fee, because the ING bank investigated the ATM and came up with the disappointing conclusion that the machine was empty. Yet it provided the forest rangers with a unique story: the way the ATM was found could easily be the opening scene in an exciting TV series. Geert was working in the forest when he saw the machine: “I saw a pile of wood that I wanted to take with me. When I picked up the wood, I saw an iron plate. Let’s see what it is, I thought. Then I saw there is ING on it,” he said.

Completely stripped ‘fat BMW’
Forest rangers regularly encounter items dumped in the forest. But ranger Erik de Jonge had to blink twice when he found a brand new BMW in the forest on the Brabantse Wal. Still, it wouldn’t have been of much use to the car. The car was left completely stripped.

Wheels, doors, hood and equipment. Everything had been removed ‘expertly’. According to the police, a car was stolen earlier that week at De Fuut in Bergen op Zoom. The car thieves drove to the Mattemburgh estate and completely stripped the car.
