In addition to the buffer basin, there will also be a park with hiking trails, lots of greenery, decking, a play island and in later phases also a watchtower and a residential project. Bernard Tournicourt, one of the visitors at the Infoarkt, sees the future positive: “It will be a meeting place for all ‘Daiselnaars’. And at the same time flooding is being tackled. We can be quite satisfied with that.”
The province of West Flanders is investing 1.5 million euros in the project. The grounds are transferred to the municipality, which is also responsible for maintenance. If everything goes according to plan, the works will start in the spring of 2026.
